Media

Anyone who knows me knows that I love media and am an avid media consumer. By media I mean: Movies, TV shows, books, music, and video games. By and large, getting me any of those items that I don't already have (at some point, I'm going to put a list online; until then, ask me or Sam at skaufman23@yahoo.com) is a safe bet, with a few caveats:

Movies:
I like a wide variety of movies. If there's a classic you think I should see and I don't already have it, get it! These days, Blu-ray is idea, but DVDs are fine too.

TV Shows:
I also like a lot of TV shows, but often don't have the time to get into them. Of course, they're a bigger time investment, but getting me the first season of a great show I don't have may lead to me discovering a new, great show.

Books:
Now that I have a Kindle, it's tougher to buy me dead tree books, because I prefer to read on the Kindle, but I'm pretty sure they have a way to give people Kindle books on Amazon. I really like to read, though, so if there's a book you think I'll like, I'm all for it. If you want to give me an Amazon gift certificate with a mandate to order a specific book with it, go for it. I like a wide variety of books; fiction and non-fiction.

Music:
I'm not quite as open-minded about music as I am about other media, but I am weird in that I like actual, physical CDs instead of only digital music. I also like old or rare releases by my favorite bands. Just to give you an idea of the type of music I like, here are some of my favorite bands:

Metallica, Live, Bad Religion, Foo Fighters, Offspring, Dropkick Murphys, Beastie Boys, Beatles, Green Day, Megadeth, Queen, Rancid, Ramones, Rise Against, The Killers, Anti-Flag, Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, Faith No More

Burn me a CD of YOUR favorite songs. It's cheap and simple!

Video Games:
Video games are last on the list for a reason. I enjoy them, but I'm not an avid fan. And I'm kind of anal-retentive, meaning that games take me forever to finish. Aside from the music games (Guitar Hero / Rock Band), unless a game is so incredible that you can't bear the thought of me not playing it, I'd recommend you avoid getting me video games.
